Objectives
Contents The social change and the historical-economic periodizations of the processes of development and crisis, are the starting point for a detailed analysis of the different Welfare policies implemented in response to the new problems and needs emerging from contemporary society. In this sense, the course aims to prepare students to better understand and read the characteristics and processes related to economic policies related to the welfare state and its historical evolution. Moreover, the course aims to investigate the socioeconomic and socio-political matrices of Welfare systems, finalizing the study of the latter in light of its relationship of third-party between State and Market, which represents the principle of the unavoidable need of the public system - private social protection.
Extended Syllabus Systematic articulation of the main Welfare theories with respect to operational practices and to the condoled and innovative models of social intervention, designed to face the risks and situations of discomfort typical of the various social groups and areas of social-health integration, also in relation to the dynamics of social change and consequently, of protection policies.
In particular, the course will present students with the following types of socio-economic and social policy: 1. Policies to combat poverty 2. Housing policies 3. Support policies in the education-work transition 4. Reconciliation policies work 5. "Long-term care" policies 6. Immigration policies.
It will also be presented, argued and discussed the proposal of social investment as a possible scenario of social innovation for current and future welfare policies, analyzing the critical aspects and highlighting their impact on the reading of new emerging needs and on the trajectories of contemporary social change.

Teaching Methods The course includes 36 hours of lectures, divided into 3 weekly lessons of 2 hours.
The organization of the course involves the structuring of the lessons in thematic modules related to the topics of the lectures, focused on lectures, thematic in-depth studies on request of the students, exercises or seminars with experts or conferences on the topics of the course, use of teaching materials / or videos) even remotely, via e-learning platform to allow a broader participation of the Students in the Teacher's educational initiatives in the context of the course of study. Attendance, although not mandatory, is strongly recommended.
Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
Verification: Oral exam, carried out through questions concerning the didactic program carried out by the teacher in the classroom and the topics of the texts foreseen and dealt with during the lessons.
Evaluation: votes expressed in thirtieths.
