Objectives

The student should achieve the following goals:
- know the etiology of the pathologies of the oral cavity
- know the clinical signs of the pathologies of the oral cavity
- learn the semiological terminology and learn how to use it in a correct and appropriate way in order to efficiently communicate to the patient and confront himself with the dental equipe
- learn how to prevent oral diseases
- know the guidelines on the commonly used instrumental investigations
- learn the methodology to perform a clinical appropriate research and a critical interpretation (also of the physio-pathological aspects) of the physical, physiological, instrumental and lab signs and evidences useful for the diagnosis and prognosis.

- Fordyce spots

PREVENTION OF ORAL CAVITY DISEASES IN EARLY CHILDHOOD
- Preventing carious lesions: etiopathogenesis, diagnosis and therapy
- Preventing gengivitis: etiopathogenesis, diagnosis and therapy
- Preventing oral mucosa diseases: etiopathogenesis, diagnosis and therapy
- The prevention and interception of malocclusion: etiopathogenesis, diagnosis and therapy

PREVENTION OF ORAL CAVITY DISEASES IN ADULTS
- Prevention of tooth wear, erosion, abrasions
- Tooth decay: etiology, prevention and therapy
- Prevention and etiopathogenesis of periodontal diseases: diagnosis and therapy of gingivitis and periondontitis

ORAL PRECANCEROUS LESIONS
- Oral precancerous lesions: leukoplakia and eritroplakia

There will be at the end of the course an oral examination (on the topics dealt with) where two questions will be asked on the etiopathogenesis of the diseases of the oral cavity and on their prevention.
