Course Sheet Academic Year of enrolment:
Professor and Collaborators:
Hours of classroom activity:
Prerequisites:
Basic knowledge of the representation methods, of drawing tools and techniques. Basic skills in using computer and common softwares.
Objectives
Contents Starting from the logical tools of geometry and their historical-critical framing, they will face double orthogonal projections, central projections (perspective), axonometric projections and quoted projections. Moreover, the drawing of arches and vaults and the Theory of Shadows will also be exposed. Furthermore, the digital drawing will be tackled, from a theoretical and practical point of view, as an aid to the understanding of space and as a tool for the representation of architecture.
Extended Syllabus The Descriptive Geometry course includes the following study issues:
1) Elements of technical drawing;
2) Geometric entities and fundamental operations;
3) The model of double orthogonal projections;
4) The axonometric model (oblique and orthogonal);
5) The linear prospective model (with vertical, horizontal and inclined picture plane);
6) Arches and vaults;
7) The theory of shadows;
8) The digital drawing for the descriptive geometry and the representation of the architecture;
9) freehand drawing of architecture.
These issues will be explored also through communications relating to the historical reading of geometric models and the selection of significant examples.

Texts in bibliography will be presented, and eventually integrated, during the semester and further information will be made available through the on-line course platform (https://elearning.unich.it ).
Teaching Methods The topics of Descriptive Geometry and Digital Drawing will be addressed through lectures and experimented with laboratory methodology by the students in the classroom with exercises that, together with those to be done at home weekly, will be delivered to the exam. To accompany the student to the realization of the weekly exercises and the final tables will be fixed regular reviews, individual and collective, through which to verify the progress of the documents and related knowledge, skills and abilities.
Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
At the end of the course, the students will be asked to demonstrate what they have learned during the course through graphic-theoretical exercises. The final mark will also include the evaluation of the drawings realized in progress and of the final ones - one for each projective model - in which a small building, chosen from those proposed by the lecturer, will be represented.
Contacts/More Information During the course the students' reception will take place after the lesson.
The subdivision of new students in Groups A and B takes place by roll number: A even number, B odd number.
