Hours of classroom activity:
Prerequisites:
Elements of Mathematics and Physics (Mechanics).
Objectives
Contents kinematics of rigid bodies;
systems of applied forces;
isostatic beams and isostatic systems of beams;
theorem of visrtual works;
mass geometry.
Extended Syllabus The course aims to provide the students of the Degree in Architecture with the elements for the understanding of the equilibrium conditions of a rigid body and of a system of rigid bodies, with particular reference to beams and isostatic beam systems.
Starting from the Kinematics of the single rigid body and from the mechanical characterization of external and internal constraining devices, structural schemes with increasing complexity are examined, classifying them both from a static (labile, isostatic, hyperstatic) and Kinematic point of view.
The characteristics of the stress and the corresponding diagrams are introduced and discussed for the isostatic single beam and isostatic beam systems.
Contents of the course:
kinematics of rigid bodies;
systems of applied forces;
isostatic beams and isostatic systems of beams;
theorem of visrtual works;
mass geometry.

Teaching Methods
Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
Preliminary written test with orientation value (non-selective), including application exercises on isostatic structures of beams and plane isostatic trusses.
The oral exam is aimed at verifying the learning of the practical and theoretical contents of the course and includes the discussion of the preliminary written test.
