Introduction to the history of science

Extended Syllabus

Definition of science. The philosophies and the sociologies of science. The roots of science in the classical world, the scientific revolution, specific topics in the history of science.
Three hours of exercises on the reading of texts in the history of science in addition to the lectures.

Teaching Methods

Introductory lectures followed by seminars. In the seminar part, the students will be asked to choose a topic to present and discuss in the class.

Evaluation methods

Verification of learning:

For attending students: ongoing tests based on participation and on an oral presentation of a topic ( submission of written papers is not required).
For non attending students: exam based on the syllabus established with the lecturer.
