Contents The course is structured in a general part and a special part. In both, case studies drawn from concrete experiences will be covered,
- The general part provides the theoretical framework and the historical evolution of Digital Law and is divided into four parts:
- Hacker culture, 'new rights' and the information industry in the USA
- Birth and development of the information society in Europe and Italy
- E-commerce, digital marketing, online advertising. Regulatory and

- The special section analyses the way in which theoretical principles have been applied in the various economic and industrial
The special section analyses the way in which theoretical principles have been applied in various economic and industrial fields, with particular reference to the dialectic between privacy, fundamental rights and business strategies. It will deal, among other things, with the legal aspects related to profiling, surveillance society, big data and AI.

- Epistemology and Digital Law (How a computer works: Syntax v Semantics)
- Fundamentals of computer science and telecommunications and related legal aspects (control over means of software development, legal impact of internet governance, single network and regulation, AI, autonomy vs. "intelligence"
- Fundamentals of cryptography and related legal aspects (role of cryptography in transactions between individuals and with PA, Cryptocurrencies, Blockchain, the end of the legal concept of document and the role of databases
- The role of hacker culture in the protection of fundamental rights (privacy, freedom of thought, access to knowledge, political rights)
- Fundamental rights and the technology industry (fundamental rights as a marketing element. The collapse of digital marketing techniques towards a skinnerian model and the impact on privacy and personal dignity
- Birth and evolution of the Information Society in Europe Italy (liberalization of telecommunications, digital signature SPID, Contact tracing COVID)

Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
Exams can be passed by studying the recommended bibliography, - Exams consist:
- in a preliminary multiple-choice test consisting of 32 questions that must be answered in 35 minutes
- in a further oral evaluation.
- N.B. the achievement of a mark higher than the sufficiency in the written does not preclude the lowering to the insufficiency in case of a negative outcome of the oral test.

- preliminary meeting and definition of the topic,
- preparation, by the student, of a draft of the index of chapters and of the
bibliography
- evaluation of the draft and indication of possible additions
