Objectives

The course intends to offer the student a systematic knowledge of the penitentiary legislation, refining the critical points in the presence of the Euro-unitary needs, as well as of the ECHR pronouncements

Contents

Analysis and explanation of the prison system and of constitutional and supranational principles relating to the execution of the sentence

A system undergoing change: remuneration, rehabilitation, mediation
The prison universe: protagonists vs. deuteragonists
The prisoner: from object to subject, through unfinished paths (ie: of the reform
interrupted)
The prisoner and his rights

The alternatives to prison
Proceedings before the Magistrate and the Supervisory Court
