Objectives

The main objective of the course is to provide the knowledge and skills for the safety assessment of reinforced concrete and masonry structures by adopting basic and advanced techniques and the main national and international regulations. Starting from the basic knowledge provided in the course on Diagnostics of Existing Buildings, the course provides students with the tools and deepens the calculation topics to identify and understand the structural functioning of existing buildings.

Contents

The course is dedicated to the evaluation of structural safety of existing buildings, ie the procedures to be used for defining the structural model of an existing building in its various aspects, including the normative (NTC 2018) and experimental (in situ, destructive and non-destructive tests) destructive) for the purposes of structural verification.

Teaching Methods

The teaching activity includes a theoretical part (with lectures and exercises performed by the lecturer in the classroom) and an applicative one (with assignment of simple design themes that will be developed by the student with the supervision of the lecturer, according to weekly review cycles)

Verification of learning:

The exam consists in the discussion of the individual papers related to the assigned exercises and in a written and oral theoretical test on the topics developed during the Course.
