Objectives

- to make the architectural and urban design development techniques known
complex and multi-scale procedures and for differentiated construction phases;
- to experiment the relationship between architectural artefacts and interpretation
criticism of the shape of urban territories;
- identify the criteria for the choice of technical and construction alternatives;
- develop a complex transformation project addressing issues
infrastructural, landscape and urban in particular from the territorial scale a
the architectural one.

Preliminary work on urban survey methodology and thematic mapping of project areas to be addressed in the 12 cfu component course (February-May 2020)

Critical mapping
In the first phase, each student or group of maximum two students will have to work with only two tools, the one of the diagrams and the one of the model, to arrive at the conclusion of the first phase to present a critical mapping of the project area.

Following a perspective of recovering and regenerating partly abandoned urban places, the project will be set up according to a series of diagrams that are, at the same time, interpretative (n. 1, 2, and 3) and propositive of the thematic and temporal phases of a process in progress:
1. Mappings and knowledge of places (status)
2. Critical-photographic report, sketches, videos, etc. (When possible)
3. Aspects of potential and criticality of places

These diagrams must be described and presented in close coherence with the Concept and the Vision developed for the Town Planning component. These diagrams will be processed and revised throughout the subsequent design phase and will all be in black and white on the same format.
Parallel to the diagrams, the students will work with only the plastic model, starting with a plastic model that will present the "concept" of the project idea and then continue with other models that will come closer and closer to the definition of the urban project.
The models will all be similar, on a scale of 1: 2.000 and will all be contained on a rigid format basis. The plastics will all be in WHITE cardboard (or poliplat). The area of each layout is the one shown in the pdf supplied for each project area.
The contents of the models will be transferred to a general 1: 1000 scale plan.
