Student must have the basic knowledge of epidemiology, biology and microbiology.
The teaching contributes to the realization of the educational objective of Health Assistance Course of training professionals able to apply preventive medicine strategies to the main human pathologies. At the end of the lessons the student will: 1) know the epidemiology and preventive strategies of infectious diseases 2) know how to take adequate preventive and protective actions against diseases, maintaining and promoting the health of the individual of the family and the community.
The course aims to provide the knowledge of epidemiology of the main infectious diseases and the direct and indirect prophylaxis of infectious diseases.
General principles of epidemiology and prevention Health promotion and health education interventions Health education as safety training Epidemiology and general prophylaxis of infectious diseases Compulsory and optional vaccinations: vaccination schedule Etiology, epidemiology and prophylaxis of infectious diseases: - mainly mediated by food; - prevalently fecal-oral diffusion; - mainly airborne; - zoonosis; - prevalently parenteral spread Nosocomial infections

The course is taught by lectures of 2 hours based on the didactic calendar. The lectures include a strong interactive component between lecturer and students. Attendance is mandatory.
Oral exam: the student will have to demonstrate his / her preparation by dealing in a clear and organized manner with the topics requested by the teacher. Evaluation will be carried out by using marks out of thirtieths
