The special pedagogy approach is functional in developing a reflection on the recognition of persons with disabilities and more broadly in situations of fragility who may be the object of help from health care professionals. In this perspective, through a synthetic analysis of the models of disability and human functioning, it will be provided an adequate interpretation of the problems with which the health care professional is called upon to deal. Understanding the value of the person in his/her entirety and in the interconnection between biological, psychological and socio-affective dimensions is essential to assume an attitude to help as a caring that goes beyond mere health cure. The issue is to take a more humanising meaning of persons with difficulty and of his/her active role in dedicated support process in accordance with the implications related to the broader meaning of health and wellbeing as a result of a quality life in all its aspects.
