Objectives

This teaching contributes to achieving the educational objective of the
Masters’ degree course in Philosophy and in particular of the course in
Human Resources Management, supplying students with the competence
necessary to help them fit in with different business systems, filling high level positions based within the human resource department.
The human factor is the resource which makes the difference as to the
development and the very survival of companies operating in an
increasingly competitive context. The teaching aims to meet this
requirement, offering students concepts which favour the acquisition of
targeted competences with the view to a dynamic management which
can develop human resources. At the end of the course the student will
reach the following objectives according to:
Knowledge and Comprehension skills:
to identify the various managing models concerning human resources;
to describe the selection, evaluation, teaching and reward systems of
Human Resources;
to support a strategic management of human resources;
to manage the relationships between individual and organization;
to identify instruments, practices, and behaviours which affect people;
to describe the systems which rule the labour relations.
Autonomous assessment:
to make use of the acquired knowledge to carry out autonomous
research concerning issues linked to the management of Human
resources;
to apply one’s knowledge properly according to the needs of the human
resources’ management.
Communication Skills
to use business lexicon in the definition of the policies and employees’
managing tools;
to take part in the solution of problems connected with the
management and development of human resources in companies.

Contents

The teaching is aimed at introducing the basic knowledge necessary to
understand the managing criteria directing the activities which develop
and improve human resources in companies. The teaching faces the
policies and the management and development tools affecting human
resources in a systematic way, making use of regular references to
managing practices: from recruitment to evaluation, from planning of
staff improvement to educational and reward system, without taking into
account the analysis and deepening of the new way of regulating work
and industrial relations.

Teaching Methods

The teaching makes use of whole class teaching, which is interactive and
engaging, integrated with various methods selected according to the
students’ needs as well as the follow–up needs pointed out during the
course.
To be more detailed, we can say that the teaching consists of 48 hours of
whole class teaching, divided in two-hour classes as per calendar.
In order to ease the accomplishment of the objectives, the working
method will favour dialogue and active participation to the lesson,
making use of both whole class teaching and guided discussion, group
works and the participation in seminars concerning the topics covered,
presented by members of the business world.
Attending the course is optional, but recommended.
The final test will be the same for every student, whether attending the
course or not.

Evaluation methods

Verification of learning:

In order to evaluate students’ learning, oral tests will be provided.
Oral tests will be assessed according to the following criteria: knowledge
of the subject, ability to organise and report the subjects grasping their
patterns; ability to interpret and analyse the policies and the managing
tools of human resources; business lexicon competence; correctness and
relevance of the presentation; coherence, strength; critical approach
towards suggested issues.
The oral test will cover the entire coursework and it will be successfully
assessed with the minimum mark of 18 out of 30.

Student services and office hours are held on Thursdays from half past
ten to half past twelve.
The University lecturer will have office hours in her office located on the
second floor of the building belonging to the former Rector’s office in
Chieti campus.
