Prerequisites:
The student must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to profitably follow the teaching. Therefore, the student must have taken the exams following their propaedeutic nature (as per the regulation).
Objectives
Contents The course will focus on issues related to behavioral disorders in
developmental age. In particular, for diagnostic and rehabilitative
purposes of these disorders, the observation tools, therapeutic models
and exercises will be defined in detail.
Extended Syllabus Translation in English:
Reflection on the theory-observation relationship in light of behavior in developmental age.
Framework of behavioral issues related to developmental age in pathologies such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Illustration and exemplary application of some main intervention models in behavioral treatments: ABA - Applied Behavior Analysis.
Overview of developmental treatments such as: TEACCH, INTERACT, DENVER MODEL.
The contribution of speech therapists in developmental frameworks demonstrating behavioral issues using the PEP-3 (PsychoEducational Profile-3), a scale that assesses the functioning, needs, and developmental potential of individuals with ASD, pervasive developmental disorders, and communicative deficits often comorbid with severe behavioral disorders.
Introduction to AAC related to the difficulty in managing problem behaviors.
Introduction to executive functions to be strengthened across behavioral issues in developmental age.
Emotional self-regulation: definition and indications for rehabilitative treatment.
Management and rehabilitation of Neglect (Definition, anatomy of the involved districts, causes and types of Unilateral Spatial Neglect, impact of the disorder on the patient's quality of life, comorbidity with neuropsychological disorders, procedures to follow for management, indications for rehabilitation in various rehabilitation settings).
Severe Acquired Brain Injuries (consequences, associated psychiatric syndromes and neuropsychological disorders, administration of cognitive functioning scales in the post-coma phase).
Disorders of expression and articulation (Aphasias, Dysarthrias...): management and treatment.
Role of Executive Functions in Acquired Brain Injuries.
Eating behavior disorders resulting from Severe Acquired Brain Injuries, rehabilitation path for nutrition, overview of sensory rehabilitation of taste and smell with applicable elements in clinical practice.
Deficit Awareness Disorder: definition, incidence, and impact on the effectiveness/efficiency of the rehabilitation process.
The role of the team in adult rehabilitation: professionals and roles.
Discussion of clinical cases, practical laboratory.
Recommended Bibliography The student will be provided with slides relating to the lessons,
accompanied by articles and reviews of the literature relating to the
topics covered.
