- Adequate knowledge of the Italian language;
- Ability to perform grammatical analysis and
logical analysis of an Italian text.
Objectives
Contents - Introduction to Greek: basic notions of the history
of the Greek language and the system of dialects;
- The alphabet and orthography;
- The rules of the Greek accent (with enclitics and
proclitics);
- The first and second declensionand the adjectives
of the vowel declension;
- The present indicative, imperative, infinitive:
thematic and athematic verbs;
- Cases and syntactic functions: subject, direct
object, attribute, apposition; complements;
predicate;
- Basic vocabulary;
- Reading, analysis and translation of short
sentences or passages.
Extended Syllabus - Principles of history of the Greek language; the
system of dialects;
-The alphabet and writing; the pronunciation; the
diacritical marks and punctuation; the accent and its
fundamental laws;
- Elements of phonetics: the vowel system; the
consonant system; the syllable;
- Elements of nominal morphology; the noun; the
Greek nominal inflection; the article; first and
second declension nouns; adjectives of the vowel
declension;
- Elements of verbal morphology: the verb: aspect,
time and mood; diatheses; the present indicative,
imperative, infinitive: thematic and athematic verbs.

Teaching Methods The frontal and interactive teaching methods will
alternate: each lesson includes an introduction to
specific aspects of grammar followed by exercises
aimed at consolidating the rules learned and
acquiring the related skills. Students will be
assigned exercises for self-study at home.

There will be on-going exercises in reading, analysis
and translation.
