Objectives
Contents Embryological derivation, microscopic structure and functional correlations of human tissues.
Methods of preparation of histological slides and methods of study in Histology.
Extended Syllabus - Levels of organization of living matter
- Eucaryotic cell: general organization of nucleus and cytoplasm
- Basic techniques for the study of cells and tissues
- Main aspects on stem cells, cell differentiation and tissue regeneration
- Epithelial tissue: morphology and general characteristics. Types of epithelial tissue: lining epithelium, exocrine epithelium, endocrine epithelium
- Connective tissue: morphology and general characteristics (cells and extracellular matrix). Types of connective tissue: proper connective tissues (loose, dense), support connective tissues (cartilage, bone), trophic connective tissues (blood, adipose tissue). Formation, growth and remodeling of bone tissue. Basic concepts on lymphoid tissues, hematopoietic tissue and immune system.
- Muscle tissue: morphology and general characteristics. Types of muscle tissue: skeletal tissue, cardiac and smooth muscle tissue.
- Nervous tissue: morphology and general characteristics of neural and glial cells. Types of neurale cells (morphological and functional classification). Types of nerve fibers and mechanisms of regeneration. Types of glial cells. Structure and types of synapses. Neuromuscular junction.
