Prerequisites
A2- B1 level competences (following the European language framework)
Can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc.
Can deal with most situations likely to arise while travelling in an area where the language is spoken.
Can produce simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest.
Can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

Objectives

TEACHING/LEARNING AIMS
The course aims to develop in an integrated way the receptive and productive abilities, in this case either listening and oral or written comprehension, together with the ability to use the foreign language in a flexible and effective way. Finally the language reflection on a morpho-syntactic, semantic-communicative level will be developed and improved.
In the case:
B1-B2 (European language framework) skills, i.e.
General skills
• understand the general meaning of oral messages of various types
• understand specific information in oral messages of various types
•skimming, using appropriate strategies,
•Understanding the main ideas and specific information in texts of a technical-professional nature
interacting in conversations on topics related to work
producing descriptions of technical-professional topics
producing brief reports, summaries and coherent and cohesive comments, also with the aid of multimedia tools, using the vocabulary
producing coherent and cohesive written and oral texts, including technical and professional ones, concerning experiences, situations and processes relating to one's own sector of Specific skills

General linguistic knowledge
• communicative aspects of interaction and oral production in relation to the context and the interlocutors
• compensatory strategies in oral interaction
• strategies for oral interaction in study and work contexts, including formal ones

• skimming and scanning of complex written, oral and multimedia texts
• conventional vocabulary and phraseology for dealing with social and work situations; variety of register and context
• morphosyntactic structures, rhythm and intonation suitable for the communicative context and textual professional contexts of use

TEACHING METHODS
Interactive lessons based on inductive and deductive approaches and strategies. Cooperative learning, learning by discovery, learning by doing, debate after case study.

Verification of learning:

ASSESSMENT METHODS
The follow-up assessment, in compliance with the learning aims above mentioned will be carried out by a written structured test, in order to assess reading comprehension and structural skills, as far as level B1 concerns. In the assessment test a value for each item will determine the final evaluation expressed in 20/20 or 30/30. The student who has got at least a 12/20 or 18/30 score will pass the examination
