The main objective of the course is to promote understanding of the mechanisms of hormonal regulation of the body's homeostasis and the pathophysiological bases of the endocrine system and metabolism as well as the role of diagnostic tests in endocrinology.
EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES
Knowledge and understanding
At the end of the course the student must have acquired theoretical knowledge and skills such as:
- the functions of the endocrine system
-the effects of hormones in maintaining the body's homeostasis
-the most common endocrine and metabolic dysfunctions
- the meaning of diagnostic tests in endocrinology

Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
The student must be able to describe the biological actions of the various hormones and the consequences of their deficiency or excess as well as indicate the most appropriate laboratory investigations for the diagnosis of endocrine dysfunctions.
Autonomy of judgement
The student must have acquired knowledge that allows him to independently describe the pathophysiology of the endocrine system.
Communication skills
The student will have to demonstrate correct and aware use of specialist terminology when presenting content in the endocrine field.
Learning ability
The student will have to develop learning skills and apply them in the future disciplines of the Course of Studies, will have to develop updating skills by consulting scientific publications specific to the sector as well as following second level master's degrees, in-depth courses and specialist seminars
