Objectives
Contents The course of PHARMACOLOGY includes a part of General Pharmacology and a part of the Special Pharmacology, which describes the characteristics of the classes of drugs
mainly used in dentistry.
The course of FIRST AID will introduce the focus of general anesthesia, sedation and pre-procedure patient evaluation. The current role of nitrous oxide and local anesthetics. The first aid maneuvers for the patency of the airways and the recognition of the main emergencies in the chair will then be illustrated: cardiac and respiratory crises, convulsive crises and anaphylaxis. The topic of bacterial endocarditis will also be addressed.

General principles of:
- Pharmakinetis: drug absorption ,distribution and elimination;
- Pharmacodynamics: mechanisms of drug action, drug receptors, receptor agonist and antagonist, drug potency and clinical efficacy, dose-response relationships.
- Nonsteroidal antiiflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
- Steroidal antiiflammatory drugs: corticosteroids
- Opioid analgesics
- Agent affecting calcification and bone turnover
