Objectives
Contents At the end of the course the student must: know, manage and use modern health information systems (SIS), clinical decision support systems (DSS), new information and telematic technologies to implement medical data, tools and applications of the 'Information Tecnology, guided or automated clinical activities with IT applications, electronic medical records and standards, computerized decision support protocols and systems, neural networks, internet and decision making, IT clinical skills essential for medical decision-making, use types of available healthcare resources and search for any documentation and / or software relating to the chosen healthcare profession.
Extended Syllabus Health informatics: current context and future developments;
Types of health information systems;
The automated flow of health data;
Management of prescriptions and treatment plans;
The design of the IT flow;
The data standards in medicine;
Internet, intranet, and extranet in healthcare;
Front-office management through the contact center;
Health and clinical communication via the Web;
The Clinical Decision Support System (DDS);
IT and telematic technologies to implement medical data;
Information Technology tools and applications;
The computerized medical record on the Web;
Relational databases with search options and electronic index;
Computerized protocols, expert systems, artificial intelligence, neural networks;

Recommended Bibliography
Teaching Methods The teaching includes lessons of 2 hours depending on the academic calendar. The frontal teaching consists of theoretical lessons with possible presentation of examples on the teaching topics.
Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
Verification of the student's acquisition of the topics covered consists of a short oral test with questions at the discretion of the teacher relating to the entire program. The eligibility to pass the exam will be based on the exposure of the acquired knowledge. The duration of the oral exam is approximately 30 minutes.
