Possession of minimal mathematical knowledge
Possession of minimal notions of biology
Objectives
Contents The diagnostic and therapeutic principles of nuclear medicine will be explained through a gradual theoretical and practical knowledge of radiopharmaceuticals, their labeling, their fractionation and the necessary radiochemical, radionuclide and Mediafill quality controls. At the same time, we will not lose sight of the radiation protection aspect of the staff during their work activities within a nuclear medicine department, the division into controlled and supervised areas, the presence of instruments for controlling environmental radioactivity.
Extended Syllabus General aspects of nuclear medicine in the diagnostic and therapeutic fields.
Radiopharmaceuticals: general aspects
99mTc generator: history, use and main characteristics.
Elution, marking and preparation of radioactive doses.
Radionuclide and radiochemical quality controls.
Work environments: proximetric and aeraulic characteristics.
Radioprotection of personnel: exposure limits and tools for controlling environmental radioactivity and body surfaces.
Contamination of working environments: threshold levels
Contamination of body surfaces: threshold levels
Decontamination of working environments
Decontamination of body surfaces.
Operating principles of the Gamma-camera.
