This integrated course of 12 ECTS aims to provide students with the basic cognitive elements of the complexity of building with particular reference to typological, technological and technical-structural of the building organism in its historical and contemporary evolutionary processes. It is therefore intended to be a general introduction to construction engineering through the integration of two founding disciplines:
- History of Construction Techniques (ICAR/18 - 6 CFU), held by Prof. Cristiano Marchegiani, exposes the main construction techniques, in their historical phenomenology and in relation to the functional and formal definition of the related architectural expressions;
- Elements of Construction Technology (ICAR/09 - 6 CFU), held by Professor Maria Giovanna Masciotta, aimed at understanding the basic structural typologies in their design and construction aspects in relation to the mechanical characteristics of the main building materials and the regulations in force in our time.
The course introduces the concepts of design, product and process that will be developed in the specific courses of the L23 - LM24 training offered by the Department of Engineering and Geology. The two constituent disciplines of the course include a series of practical exercises and the development of a final project.
