Training objectives: The course is divided into three parts. The first part intends to provide a detailed knowledge of the areas and tools for the psychologist's intervention in the school environment. The second part aims to provide in-depth knowledge on the topic of microaggressions and discrimination in schools. The third part involves the acquisition of practical competence in the use of a grid for the analysis of cultural shocks.
EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES
Knowledge and understanding
At the end of the course the student will have to:
• Understand the main areas and tools for the psychologist's intervention in the school environment, with particular attention to different aspects: intervention models, needs analysis and definition of project objectives, developing projects at school, planning psychological consultancy activities at school.
• Know how to analyze the psychological and dynamic manifestations of microaggressions, with particular reference to three types: racial, gender and related to sexual orientation
• Be aware of the impact of microaggressions on victims and microaggressors
• Know the main findings of research on microaggressions in different fields
• Know strategies to defuse microaggressions and macroaggressions
Autonomy of judgement
At the end of the course the student must know:
• Reflect on the contribution of the school psychologist to address a variety of problems that arise in the school environment
• Reflect on the contribution that the school psychologist can make to promote interethnic relations and combat discrimination at school
• Know how to analyze situations of misunderstanding that can arise in the context of intercultural relations
Communication skills
At the end of the course the student must know:
• Present and discuss a thesis based on an interview analyzed using a specific grid, referring to the culture shock method
