Environmental Psychology is defined as the discipline that studies the interplay between individuals and the built and natural environment. This means that environmental psychology examines the influence of the environment on human experiences, behavior, and well‐being, as well as the influence of individuals on the environment, that is, factors influencing environmental behavior, and ways to encourage pro‐environmental behavior. Students will be introduced to key topics in contemporary environmental psychology. The course provides an overview of research on the positive and negative influences of environmental conditions on experiences, well‐being, and behavior, as well as ways to promote well‐being via environmental changes. Key topics include risk perception, environmental stressors, nature experience, health effects of nature, architecture, urban environmental quality, and quality of‐life effects of environmental conditions.

Students will be also asked to prepare a ppt presentation on a specific topic during the course. This work will be evaluated, and it will contribute to the final mark.
For the individual essay, students will receive max 20 points.
For the presentation, students will receive 10 points.
Scoring is graduated as follow:
0-4 (0-2 for the presentation) markedly inadequate, evident misunderstanding, lack of critical comprehension, or content off-topic
5-8 (3-4 for the presentation) not fully adequate; imprecisions, surface exam and description of the contents, lack of critical comprehension
9-12 (5-6 for the presentation) sufficiently clear and understandable to the audience; there are elements that denote critical deepening of the contents, albeit not fully evident
13-16 (7-8 for the presentation) very clear, lexicon is specific to the topic, evidence is clearly understood and described, and critical comprehension is evident; some of these aspects, however, is present but not fully achieved
17-20 (9-10 for the presentation) fully meet the requirements as it concerns clarity, lexicon specificity, understanding and explanation of evidence; critical exam of limits and implications of the study goes beyond information explicitly reported in the article.
