Objectives
Contents This course aims at investigating the post-Yugoslavian literature, with special attention to the literature of the exile and its key features: nostalgia, memory, post-memory. We will explore the theme of memory as is deployed in some Bosnian, Croatian, and Serbian authors who experienced life in exile in a foreign country. In their works, these stateless writers from the former Yugoslavia, or post-Yugoslavian authors, strive to imaginatively recompose a constantly threatened memory, a precious part of an unstable, often precarious identity. We will read several different texts spanning from traditional novels, to the recent genre of the graphic novel.
