Objectives Contents The course is organized in order to allow the rapid acquisition of a basic practical and theoretical experience for the chemical-physical analysis of natural and artificial stone materials with special attention to cultural heritage. The main themes are: Nature, acquisition and processing of petrological data used to describe igneous rock types, metamorphic and sedimentary; ceramic materials, vitreous and metal, pearls, coral, amber, precious stones and gems.
Extended Syllabus Geological deposits, and their relationship with the natural and human environment. Nature and notation of geochemical data; analytical methodologies; examples of relevant compositions of geological materials and artifacts; analysis of geochemical data; use of major elements; Use of trace elements: use of stable and radioactive isotopes; geochemistry of stone, ceramic materials, glassy, metallic and pigments; gems; geochemistry of vulnerable systems of environmental and cultural interest. Stratigraphy and sedimentology; risk.
