The course of Architectural Composition is aimed at the study and the
understanding of basic compositional techniques for designing
simple architectural bodies. The course is divided into two parts. In
first part are readings and interpretations of references
elementary architectural, mainly referred to living spaces
single family. In the second part, those same architectural references
form the basis for the design of small living spaces referred to
architectural-functional programs assigned. The architectural space,
both in the reading phase, both in the interpretation phase and in the most
properly of project re-proposal, it is decomposed into its own
primary components with particular reference to: horizontal elements,
bases, plans and covers; vertical elements, masonry walls and
diaphragms; punctual elements, warps, structures and connections. These
components will be investigated as well as in their physical dimension and
spatial organization, even in their material consistency and
constructive, trying to highlight the relationship, often very clear, between
forms, materials and technologies. To the understanding of the components
primary and their technical restitution, we associate the study of some
fundamental themes on the organization of space such as:
lightness, transparency, density, modifiability, seriality,
overlap of parts etc. indispensable for the definition of a
framework of consistency within which to harmonize the individual parts. The
therefore, the project is a sort of conclusive equilibrium
in which the measurement of the individual construction elements and are integrated
the dimension of the spaces that enclose, within a strategy
composition able to satisfy the reasons for the program
architectural-functional assigned.
