Extended Syllabus The course clarifies motivations and limitations of public interventions in the economy. Then it presents the foundations and theory related to fiscal policies, pointing out the relationship with the government budget and public debt. It analyzes the role of the pension system and redistributive policies. The course pays specific attention to the distributive aspects of public policies both in the short and the log-run. Finally, it analyzes income inequality and economic poverty, paying attention to the distributive role of public institutions.

Teaching Methods Frontal classes on theoretical analysis and institutional aspects of economic policy and exercises.
Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
The exam consists in a written exam focusing on the topics presented in the course and included in the study plan. During the course, it can be carried out written tests, the results of will be considered by the teacher in the final evaluation. The written exam provides for the performance of theoretical questions and exercises. The sum of points associated to each question and exercise is 30. The final evaluation is expressed in thirtieths. The exam is passed if the student reaches an evaluation of at least 18/30.
