Objectives
Contents The laboratory provides the basic knowledge and skills to deal with an anthropological excavation in archaeological contexts.
In particular, it illustrates the anatomy of the skeleton and teeth, as well as the techniques for determining age at death, skeletal sex, behavioral patterns and the state of health of an individual from his biological remains.
Extended Syllabus Anatomy of the skeleton: the skull, the shoulders, the pelvis, the axial skeleton and the appendicular skeleton.
Anatomy of the teeth.
Estimation of biological age to death based on morphometric characteristics of teeth and bones.
Estimation of sex based on the morphometric characteristics of the skeleton and the teeth.
Occupational indicators (occupational markers): enthesopathies, syndesmopathies and joint changes.
Paleopathology: identification of skeletal changes correlated with infectious, degenerative and tumor diseases, nutritional and traumatic deficiencies.

The modality of verification of learning consists in the reconstruction of the biological profile of a skeletal individual from his remains (casts).
