Objectives
Contents Introduction to the study of television and digital media
Extended Syllabus The course provides an introduction to the history and the language of television and digital media. The key aspects of all these media will be addressed from a technological, social a cultural perspective.
The course’s main focus is on contemporaruy American and European TV seriality, which will be examined as a telling example of the transformations of television medium in the digital era.
The final section of the course (9 CFU) will concentrate on an in-depth discussion of a crucial genre in modern popular culture, as well as in the context of contemporary TV seriality: the crime genre.

Teaching Methods This teaching (taught lessons) is 63 hours long.
Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
The final assessment consists of an oral exam on the entire syllabus. The aim is to assess students’ skills and in particular, an understanding of the issues discussed during the course, an appropriate knowledge of the bibliography in the course programme, critical and methodological abilities and communication skills will be evaluated. The grading scale goes from 1 to 30 with honours (cum laude): 1-17 fail, 18-21 sufficient, 22-24 fair, 25-27 good, 28-29 very good, 30-30 with honours (cum laude) excellent.
