It is suggested to have acquired a basic knowledge on mental functioning models.
To provide knowledge and competence on theoretical models and clinical practice in psychotherapy. It will be used an integrative approach in order to have a comprehensive and deep view on recent advances in psychotherapy. In particular, the course is intended to explain knowledge (in terms of theory and clinical practice) and skills (application of theoretical knowledge to clinical reality) whose acquisition will be checked at exams.
Definition and application of psychotherapy. Main psychotherapy models. Comparison between psychotherapies. Empirical evidence in psychotherapy: levels of evidence and epistemological problems. Common factors in psychotherapy. Clinical practice in psychotherapy: the professional training of the psychotherapist.
Definition and fields of application of psychotherapy. Evidence on efficacy: outcome and process research. Empirical validation of psychotherapies: levels of evidence and epistemological challenges. Common factors, therapeutic allegiance, therapeutic alliance, Dodo verdict. Basic aspects of psychodynamic psychotherapy. Basic aspects of cognitive-behavioral therapy. Basic aspects of systemic psychotherapy. Basic aspects of integrative psychotherapy. Training in psychotherapy in Italy and worldwide.

Attendance is mandatory. Absences from course sessions are admitted within 25%.
