The teaching will contribute to the achievement of the learning objectives of the Course of study in Literature, in particular along the following lines:
Knowledge and comprehension
Knowledge of the main principles of socio-linguistics (linguistic variety, dialect, variation, norm, bilingualism, diglossia, linguistic code);
Knowledge of the classification of the Italo-Romance linguistic area and of its varieties;
Knowledge of the main phonological, morphological and syntactic characteristics of the Italo-Romance dialects;
Knowledge of the methodology of field research and data gathering in dialectological studies.
Capability of applying knowledge and comprehension
Capability of use correctly linguistic terminology concerning the internal and external phenomena of the Italo-Romance varieties;
Capability of read a linguistic map and recognize the main isoglosses;
Capability of recognize the linguistic features of the main Italo-Romance varieties;
Capability of apply the methodologies of dialectological research.
Judgement ability
Ability to examine a dialectal text and reconstruct its linguistic origin.
Communicative abilities
Ability to communicate the specific characteristics of the Italo-Romance dialects, by making use of a convenient scientific terminology.
Learning abilities
Ability to study critically the reference texts.
