Prerequisites:

For a more profitable appreciation it is recommended that you read an up to date manual (e.g. I. Baldriga, Dentro l’arte, Milano 2016 for the 15th – 18th centuries inclusive).

Objectives

In the context of the MA degree BASA the course aims to broaden and deepen knowledge of Italian artistic culture in relation to European art from the 15th to the 18th century, following study and research methodologies towards the most up to date results.
Students will acquire independence of critical judgement, open to the international context, and the ability to recognise, contextualise and describe artworks and artistic phenomena

Part II: Italian art and European art from 15th to 17th century. The lessons are geared to analysing art and architecture from the Renaissance to Neoclassicism in the constant exchange between Italy and various European countries. Reference texts:

Course timetable. Attendance is strongly advised. Cesid classroom, Monday afternoon +Tuesday (morning and afternoon) +Wednesday morning. Followed by exercises (also in English by request) The teacher also holds tutorials and workshops.
Courses begin Monday 1 March 2021.
