Objectives

The course aims to provide students with the typical tools of the descriptive statistics and to introduce them to the correct use of the related methods in the social field, in particular through the use of IT tools. Students will then know the statistical methods necessary to treat, manipulate, represent and process data (both qualitative and quantitative), through the use of non-specific software. They will therefore have to be able to use the data in order to transform it into information, for decision-making purposes in the business environment. The ability to represent and interpret the results obtained plays a fundamental role.

Contents

The course covers the main topics of descriptive statistics, together with the development of procedures for their implementation with non-specific software.

Evaluation methods

Verification of learning:

The exam consists of a test on a computer, with various exercises aimed at verifying the mastery of statistical techniques and IT procedures to properly process a dataset and interpret the results obtained. Following, there will be an oral interview, which starts from the discussion of the test and will lead to a final single mark in thirtieths.
