Contents Epidemiology, pathophysiology, classification, diagnosis and treatment of glaucomatous disease
Extended Syllabus 1. Epidemiology of glaucoma
2. Ocular and systemic risk factors
3. Physiopathology of damage: mechanical, vascular and neuro-degenerative theories
4. Classification of the various forms of glaucoma
5. Symptoms of glaucoma
6. Clinical diagnosis of glaucoma
7. First level instrumental diagnosis: computerized perimetry, pachymetry, tonometry, nictemeral curve, biomicroscopic examination of the anterior segment and ophthalmoscopy.
8. Second level instrumental diagnosis: non-conventional perimetry (FDT, SWAP), examination of retinal nerve fibers, optic papilla and macular region using GDxVCC, GDxECC, OCT and HRT.
Notes on the progression of functional and morphological damage.
9. Overview of medical and laser therapy in glaucoma
