Objectives

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

This course will provide you with the in-depth knowledge of key concepts and topics:
• organisation and management of the Italian stock exchange
• the rules and procedures for admission and listing on the market for issuing companies
• the rules and procedures for admission for intermediaries
• supervise listed companies' disclosure
• valuation of fixed income securities, the valuation of stocks, performance evaluation
• derivatives usage and risk management.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of the course the students will be able to:
- identify the main issues emerging from the evolution of the financial system (knowledge and understanding);
- apply the essential analysis tools to give an expert account (knowledge and skills)
of understanding applied);
- develop an autonomous speech on the theme of the structural and functional dimension of the financial system and of the
conduct of the main actors (autonomy of judgment);
- leverage the different transversal skills developed, to activate knowledge
acquired in professional contexts and for different purposes (communication skills and of different nature).

Contents

The course aims to offer students:
an organic classification of the main institutional and operational characteristics of the Italian stock market, necessary to understand the role of the markets themselves
a deepening of the emission methods
The course is mainly applied.

Extended Syllabus

1) Financial Instruments:
• Cash instruments, financial instruments whose value is determined directly by markets.
• Derivative instruments, are financial instruments which derive their value from the value and characteristics of one or more underlying assets. They can be divided into exchange-traded derivatives and over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives.
2) Italian Stock Exchange and the rules and procedures for admission and listing on the market.

3) Analysis of financial markets:
• Capital markets:
o Stock markets, which provide financing through the issuance of shares or common stock, and enable the subsequent trading thereof.
o Bond markets, which provide financing through the issuance of bonds, and enable the subsequent trading thereof.
• Commodity markets, which facilitate the trading of commodities.
• Money markets, which provide short term debt financing and investment.
• Derivatives markets, which provide instruments for the management of financial risk.
o Futures markets, option market, SeDex, EtfPlus maket.
4) Model for equity, bond and derivatives price behaviour, Greeks

Methods of Provision

Conventional

Teaching Methods

The Teaching is structured in 72 hours of frontal teaching, which provide a strong interactive component between teacher and students.
Frontal teaching consists of theoretical lessons and seminars held by experts
of the sector on the topics covered. During the teaching some exercises are offered to the students
verify the practical application of the topics viewed at the theoretical level. The frequency is optional, recommended, and the final exam will be the same for attending and non-attending students.
Both tests will be based on the reference texts indicated, without differences
between attending and non-attending students.
The written test will be evaluated with a score between 0 and 30. Students who have passed the written test they can, if they wish, take the oral exam.

Evaluation methods

Verification of learning:

The exam includes a written test that consists of open questions with a predefined space - a
verify the learning, the conceptual mastery, the ownership of language and the ability
interpretation and synthesis - and numerical exercises.
The duration of the written test is 1 hour and 30 minutes (9CGU), 1 hour (6 cfu). The oral examination is optional, at the request of the student.
The written test will be evaluated with a score between 0 and 30. Students who have passed the written test
they can, if they wish, take the oral exam.
