This 12-credit course is aimed at providing the basic cognitive elements of the complexity of building with particular reference to the typological, technological and technical-structural aspects of the building organism in its historical and contemporary evolutionary processes. It therefore aims to be a general introduction to construction engineering through the integration of two founding disciplines:
- History of Building Techniques (ICAR / 18 - 6 cfu) aimed to understanding the historical evolution of construction in its formal and aesthetic aspects in relation to the material and technical resources available in the past;
-Elem ents of Building Technique (ICAR / 09 - 6 cfu) aimed at the knowledge of the basic structural typologies in their design and construction aspects in relation to the mechanical characteristics of the main building materials and regulations in force in our time, with particular reference to the main types of civil works.

The course introduces the project, product and process concepts which will then be developed in the specific courses of the L23 - LM24 training course offered by the Department of Engineering and Geology.
