Knowledge of human anatomy, biology, physics, basic chemistry and computer science.

Objectives

The course provides the necessary skills to:
-understand the clinical aspects of dental occlusion, masticatory function and pathophysiology of the stomatognathic apparatus.
-To acquire the knowledge on the functions of the masticatory system: Horizontal intermaxillary relationships; Vertical intermaxillary ratios. Occlusal curves and planes.
- Acquire knowledge on the procedures for the production of medical devices in compliance with current legislation
-Understand the correlations between limits and advantages of digital methods complementary to the dental profession.
-Know the main research methods and the tools most used in the science of materials for dental use.
-Legislative principles in dentistry of (UE) 745/2017 regulation.

Contents

-Gnathology and physiology of chewing:
- In-depth study on the main methods of recording and reproduction of mandibular movements. Comparison of analog and digital methods.
-Analysis of the different types of prosthetic devices.
- In-depth study on the main physical, biological and mechanical properties of the materials commonly used in Prosthetic Dentistry and their correlation with the different types of prosthetic devices.
-Principles of traditional construction of prosthetic devices.
-Digital technique in the design and construction of prosthetic devices with indication of the different types of material.
-Research methods in dentistry.
-Legislative aspects of Regulation (EU) 745/2017 on prosthetic devices

Occlusion, chewing movements and their simulation in the laboratory
Vertical and horizontal determinants of occlusion, occlusal patterns;
