Extended Syllabus Neuronal signal transmission: ion channels and ionic bases of the resting membrane potential. The action potential and its properties. Conduction of the action potential. Synaptic Transmission: The types of synapses, the principles of synaptic transmission and neurotransmitters. The somatosensory system: tactile and proprioceptive sensitivity, thermal and pain sensitivity. Motor control: reflexes and voluntary movement. The autonomic nervous system. Homeostatic control: regulation of nutrition and the intake of body fluids. Biological rhythms and sleep: sleep-wake cycle and circadian rhythms. Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
Depending on the educational needs, tests can be carried out during the course to detect the effectiveness of the learning and teaching processes.
The final test consists of a multiple choice written test. The oral exam is optional for those who have obtained a minimum grade of 18/30 on the test.
The evaluation will be based on the following judgments:
a sufficient but incomplete basic knowledge (vote 18-22/30),
a fair knowledge with the ability to clearly illustrate the topics (23-25/30),
good ability to illustrate the subjects with properties of language (26-28/30),
excellent knowledge of the topics. The student easily move from one argument to another contextualizing any interconnections and/or differences (28-30/30).
The laude is reserved for those who have achieved the mark of 30/30 in the written test and in the oral exam also demonstrating particular interest and knowledge in the neurophysiology with high communication skills and autonomous learning.
