MATHEMATICS AND STATISTICS FOR COGNITIVE SCIENCES
This course deal with the essential notions of mathematics and statistics for quantitative applications.
Real analysis.
Linear Algebra.
Functions depending on multiple variables: derivation and integration theory.
Descriptive statistics.
1) Functions of one variable: real numbers, sequences, limits, continuity, differentiability, Riemann integration. Linear homogeneous and non-homogeneous differential equations of 1 degree.
2) Linear algebra: algebra of vectors and matrices, basic operations, projections, changes of reference basis, diagonalization. Higher degree linear differential equations.
3) Functions in several variables (simplest case of class C ^ 1): topology in several dimensions, continuity, gradient, vector field. Multiple integration (main multidimensional coordinate changes: polar and spherical coordinates).
4) Descriptive statistics: classification of data. Different types. Indices for numeric data. Central indices: fashion, mean, median. Dispersion indices: variance, standard deviation, quantiles, quartiles. Linear regression, correlation and graphical representation of data.
