Hours of classroom activity:
Objectives
Contents The course will focus on:
- key concepts of cognitive evaluation in clinical practice;
- main cognitive and neuropsychology tests used during clinical evalutation;
- the cognitive deficit profile and its use in rehabilitation programs.
Extended Syllabus Cognitive evaluation is a performance-based method to assess cognitive functioning. This method is used to examine the cognitive consequences of brain damage, brain disease, and severe mental illness. There are several specific uses of cognitive assessment, including collection of diagnostic information, differential diagnostic information, assessment of treatment response, and prediction of functional potential and functional recovery. Brain changes can be associated with nearly normal cognitive functioning, while individuals with no lesions detectable on imaging can have substantial cognitive and functional limitations.

Teaching Methods - 48 hours of frontal teaching, divided into lessons of 2 and 3 hours;
The course includes practical exercises dedicated to principal cognitive tests.
Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
The exam consists of a written test, aimed at verifying learning, conceptual mastery, language properties and the ability to interpret and analyze cognitive deficits. The test includes 30 multiple choice questions (4 answer options, one of which is correct). The duration of the exam is 30 min.
The student can choose to complete the exam with an oral supplement to be agreed with the teacher.
The test will be evaluated with a score between 0 and 30 (with possible honors). The grade from 18 to 23 indicates sufficient learning, the grade from 23 to 28 a good level of learning, the grade from 28 to 30 an excellent level of learning, the grade "with honors" indicates particular skills of analysis and critical reasoning of the Course topics.
