The course is intended to the students of the third year of the Bachelor's Degree in Literature and requires knowledge of the morphology and legal syntax of the Latin language, good skills in Latin literature, improved reading skills (including metric), analysis and translation of Latin texts.

Contents The Evolution of Latin language from the Archaic Age to the Middle Ages
Extended Syllabus Readings of Latin texts of age and different contexts with particular reference to archaic poetry and late-ancient literature.
The Latin texts are avalaible in the handbook.

Teaching Methods The course consists of 36 h of frontal teaching and 6 h of seminars on individual texts.
Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
The final assessment consists of an oral exam on the entire syllabus. The aim is to assess students’ skills and in particular, an understanding of the issues discussed during the course, an appropriate knowledge of the bibliography in the course programme, a correct command of the specific language as well as critical and methodological abilities will be evaluated. The grading scale goes from 1 to 30 with honours (cum laude): 1-17 fail, 18-21 sufficient, 22-24 fair, 25-27 good, 28-29 very good, 30-30 with honours (cum laude) excellent.
Contacts/More Information In the discipline cannot be sustained more than 6 cfu. Those who want to take the exam in order to obtain teaching credits (in number of 6) will refer to the same program of the students in progress. Students of the degree course in Literature must register for the exam in online mode and check the eventual convocation on time or day after the beginning of the exam.
