Objectives

The course aims to present the evolutionary changes that occur from birth to adolescence, with particular attention to the cognitive, affective and social development of the child. The main objective is to bring students closer to the field of developmental psychology and the main theories on the subject, promoting the ability to apply the acquired theoretical knowledge in practice.

Contents

Introduction to psychological development, described analyzing the role of biological and environmental influences.
Social, affective and cognitive development.

Extended Syllabus

The first part of the course introduce the discipline.
The role of biology and environment on child develpment.
Social development (the role of family and peer relationships); affective (attachment bond); and emotional (emergency of emotions and emotional competence) of child.
The construction of self: temperament, gender identity, self-concept. The developmental trajectories that lead to adulthood.
