Extended Syllabus Introduction to cosmetology. Background. Definition of cosmetic.
The skin: structure and functions. Skin appendages: nails, hair, sweat and sebaceous glands. The pigmentary system of the skin.
Cosmetic raw materials: excipients, additives and active ingredients. Lipophilic excipients, hydrophilic excipients, surfactants, emulsifiers, rheological additives, film-forming agents, sequestering agents, preservatives, antioxidants, dyes, functional substances.
Normative aspects of cosmetics: from Directive 76/768 / EEC to law 713/86 to Regulation (EC) 1223/2009: . The attachments. Cosmetics labeling and INCI name.
Personal hygiene products: cleaning products, deodorants, oral hygiene products. Properties and classification of surfactants . Definition of HLB and its scale.
Skin care products. Emulsions: definition, characteristics and main emulsifiers of cosmetic interest. Cosmetic creams: types of emulsions and skin absorption. Skin aging.
Sunscreen products: the pigment system of the skin. Physical filters and chemical filters.
