Prerequisites:

A good knowledge of the main concepts on dynamic psychology and technics of the clinical interview

Objectives

1) The course aims to provide students with theoretical and practical knowledge about: the conduct of a clinical interview with parents; and short-term dynamic psychotherapy.
2) Refine the ability to be able to identify the fundamental structures of pathology and acquire the skills for psychopathological interviewing in the clinical context for the exploration of the lived world of patients.

Contents

This is an integrated course aimed at deepening knowledge about:
- the clinical interview with parents and its transcription;
- short-term dynamic psychotherapy;
-clinical phenomenology;
- diagnostic aspects;
- the use of the semi-structured interview for understanding the patients' lived experiences

Extended Syllabus

The main topics of the course are the following:
- the notion of anthropological proportion;
- schizophrenic existence;
- the existential failure in the schizophrenic spectrum: e.g. extravagance, perverseness, and manneristic behavior;
- the intersubjective aspects.

Teaching Methods

- Frontal lessons, role-playings and guided discussions of clinical cases.
- The Teachers will provide case materials suitable for the simulation of psychotherapy sessions. Students will be invited to offer their insight into case studies and simulate interactions (questions, remarks, etc.) with the patients whose experiences are described during each lesson.
- Students are also invited and guided to express their emotions and personal narrative on the clinical material presented during lessons.
