Prerequisites:

As a prerequisite, the students are required an advanced psychobiological knowledge.

Objectives

The course aims at providing advanced knowledge on clinical neuropsychology, with particular reference to evaluation and rehabilitation of the main acquired cognitiveThe course aims also at providing the crucial cognitive instruments for a productive integration within multidisciplinary équipes.

Contents

The course deals with the theoretical and methodological foundations of neuropsychology, presenting the clinical symptoms, theoretical interpretations and neural bases of the main disorders following acquired cerebral injuries, with particular reference to related evaluation and rehabilitation procedures.

Extended Syllabus

Theoretical and methodological foundations of neuropsychology. The neuropsychological evaluation and instrumental exams in clinical neuropsychology. Main neuropsychological disorders and syndromes, with related evaluation procedures (aphasia, dyslexia and dysgraphia, apraxia, amnesia, attentional and visuo-spatial disorders, disorders of executive functions, mild and major neurocognitive disorders), body representation and illness awareness disorders, emotional and psychiatric disorders following acquired brain injuries.General principles of neuropsychological rehabilitation. The rehabilitation of language, memory and attention disorders; treatment of mild and major neurocognitive disorders.

Teaching Methods

The course contents are presented through lessons in lecture hall, taking advantage of power point slides (made available to the students), of the vision of explicative clinical cases and direct experience of some evaluation and rehabilitation procedures.
