Logical and reasoning skills; knowledge of the main developmental theories; knowledge of the main methods in developmental psychology; knowledge of experimental methodology; comprehension of English written research papers.
Objectives
Contents Social responsivness in neonatal period; early dyadic interaction; development of the understanding of viual, gestural and emotional reference; gestural communciaiton and early language acquisition; early forms of social understanding; joint attention in typycal, atypical and at risk conditions; brain-behavior-environment interaction in early development
Extended Syllabus Early social and communicative abilities in typical and atypical conditions are presented in the light of the social understanding development. Human infants are viewed as psychobiological and developing beings. Main topics are the following: Social bond formation: innate tendencies, neurological basis, environmental affordances. Dyadic interactions: temporal contingency, expressive exchanges; interpersonal co-regulation. Triadic interactions: shared attention, communicative gestures, social referencing. Intentional communication: deictic and representational gestures, pointing development. Early language: shared references, vocal and verbal schemes, first words.

During the course: presentation of selected topics (aims 3, 4) and research articles (aim 2). Final: written task with open questions with 10 questions to be answered out of 17 questions (aims 1-5). Results will get 30/30 points at the maximum
