EDUCATIONAL GOALS
In line with the general aims of the Master's Degree in "Management, Finance, and Development" (LM56), the course has four main educational goals:
(1) To introduce economics as an experimental science that has made available new protocols and new types of data deriving from laboratory and extra-laboratory methods.
(2) To introduce behavioural economics and cognitive economics, clarifying their methodological differences.
(3) To provide evidence of the systematic violations of the axioms of the rational choice theory on which standard economics is based, as well as to discuss the models that implement this evidence in advanced Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and economic and social policies.
(4) To conduct experimental works and seminar activities.

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES
After completing the course, the students will be able to understand the theoretical and applied value of cognitive sciences and, in particular, of cognitive economics. In addition, the acquired knowledge can be applied above all in the research field, e.g. scientific, market, and social research, as well as in the relationships between private companies and customer management, in order to improve corporate and social decision-making processes. Based on an interdisciplinary approach using the tools developed by cognitive sciences, including the experimental methodology, students will be able to elaborate on their personal concept maps of cognitive economics with an emphasis on Finance. Finally, students will develop the ability to compare two or more economic theories, identifying points of contact and contrast between them, and noticing their related criticalities.
