Portuguese spoken in the border regions
Portuguese spoken by Portuguese descendants abroad, an analysis of authentic written and oral materials.
The policy of preserving the Portuguese language, a PE variant in the Portuguese-speaking communities abroad.
Minority languages in Portugal and the policies adopted for their protection

Teaching Methods Lectures, cooperative learning, multimedia workshop, seminars, and round tables.
Evaluation methods Verification of learning:
Ongoing evaluation, a final written test preparatory to the oral exam; and final oral exam. The written test focuses on one of the topics of the course. The student is invited to write about one of the topics of the course, making use of the theoretical references discussed during the course. The oral exam consists of the discussion of a written paper related to a topic of the course. The paper, due date, and method will be previously agreed upon between the teacher and the student. In addition to this, the student must demonstrate knowledge of the various topics covered during the course through a brief oral interview.
