EDUCATIONAL GOALS
In line with the general aims of the Master's Degree in "Management,
Finance, and Development" (LM56), the course has the objective to
provide students with some theoretical and technical tools needed to
understand the the major real and financial phenomena related to local economic systems, as well as local growth and development. The subject and aims of the course, therefore, represent important basic elements for achieving the educational objectives of the entire Master's Degree, including, in particular, "the acquisition of outstanding professional skills with high and complex skills indispensable for defining and the management of strategies suitable for facing rapidly evolving and increasingly competitive contexts, with specific reference to current sectoral, territorial and global growth and development models, as well as their sustainability."
EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
After completing the course, students will be able to understand the theoretical and applied significance of the economic processes that characterise the dynamics of growth and development of local economic systems, with particular attention to the role of innovation and institutions. The ultimate goal that is intended to be achieved is to lead students to acquire a certain degree of autonomy in addressing the issues that are at the centre of an interesting research area: The role of local economic systems for the purpose of innovation dynamics and therefore of economic growth and development.
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
The knowledge gained can be applied to (1) work or research activities aimed at defining and promoting growth and development models in research organisations, government institutions, public and private companies, consortia of companies, business and social associations; (2) activities of promotion and provision of services to the general growth and development or to specific industries, in public and private bodies (local and national) as well as in development agencies.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
After completing the course, students will be able to properly use the economic language related to the subject as well as to present and discuss the results of recent scientific studies relating to local growth and development.
