This 12-cfu course is aimed at providing the basic cognitive elements of the complexity of building with particular reference to the typological, technological and technical-structural aspects of the building organism in its historical evolutionary processes and in the contemporary world. Therefore, it aims to be a general introduction to construction engineering through the integration of two foundational disciplines:
- History of Techniques (ICAR/18 - 6 cfu) held by prof. Carlos Alberto Cacciavillani, targeted to the knowledge of the historical evolution of the construction in its formal and aesthetic aspects in relation to the material and technical resources available in the past;
- Elements of Construction Techniques (ICAR/09 - 6 cfu) held by prof. Maria Giovanna Masciotta, aimed at the knowledge of the basic structural typologies in their design and construction aspects in relation to the mechanical characteristics of the main building materials and the actual regulations in force, with focus on the main typologies of civil engineering structures.
The Course introduces the concepts of design, product and process that will be later developed during the specific courses of the educational path L23 – LM24 offered by the Department of Engineering and Geology.
The two constitutive disciplines of the Course are structured as follows.
